Simple two tier shelf for holding DVDs and for people to sit on. It is made from MDF and finished with paint. I plan on putting a cream color seat cushion on the top for people to sit on. I am also considering making the color a bit darker to match the coffee table.

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF or MDFB) is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down softwood into wood fibers, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure.[1] It is a building material similar in application to plywood but made up of separated fibers, not wood veneers. It is denser than normal particle board.
oh, so that's why you painted it instead of using your stain. i think you should paint it with an accent color! something other than brown, b/c you have so much dark brown color in that room already. you need some color!
