Project #3: Poster Frame

My brother had this picture of Niagra Falls laying around at my parents house. I wanted to put it to good use in my 2nd floor bathroom but I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a frame just for $20 poster. I hopped down to Southern Lumber to pick up 8 feet of walnut wood and whipped out this frame. At first I tried to do 45 degree angle cuts around the corner but my miter saw just wasn't accurate enough so that the joints would butt up nicely. I also wasn't in the mood to do lots of sanding to get the edges perfect for a 45 degree cut. So I went for the lazy solution and just made perpendicular cuts! I stained the walnut with the same espresso color as my coffee table. The pieces of wood were joined together with a pocket screw in each corner.
