I went shopping this weekend for tools and supplies for my desk. I tested out the hinges for my fold down keyboard drawer. Here's what it looks like ->
I am going to try to do some budgeting for this project and am will use it to test out how well I can approximate the cost of building. Eventually I will need to get this down if I ever want to start selling my furniture.
I am entertaining three different types of wood for the desk: birch, maple, walnut. The price per foot are $2.43, $3.30, and $4.04, respectively. So far I have worked with red oak and walnut. I am tempted to choose walnut because it saves me a lot of time when I'm putting on the finishing stain since it requires less coats to get the desired color, but as you can see there is a big premium for it.
